Fine Arts in Fall

September 13, 2011

By Brianne Harrison Moore

Fall is upon us, which means the holidays are just around the corner. While it may be a bit premature to start pulling out the decorations, it’s never too early to start your shopping, and this weekend there are two excellent opportunities to stock up on one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your list.

Starting on September 17 and closing on the 18 is the Fine Arts and Crafts show at Anderson Park in Montclair. This annual juried show is now in its 28th year and will feature over 160 fine artists, jewelers, photographers, and artisans working in a variety of media. If you can’t make it this weekend, another fine arts and crafts fair will be held at Brookdale Park in Montclair on October 15 and 16. The weekend’s event is free and will be held rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. For more information, visit rosesquared.com.

Those willing to take a road trip can visit Crafts at Lyndhurst, a semiannual event held in the beautiful Hudson Valley. The fall event will start on September 16 and run through the 18. Exhibitors include artists working in fiber, metal, clay, wood, glass, leather, and paper as well as photographers, jewelers, painters, and specialty food purveyors. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $4 for children aged 6-16. An additional $3 gets you a full weekend pass. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 16 and 18, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. September 17.
