Fasten your napkins: it’s going to be a delicious weekend!

Starting on September 9 and running through the 11 is the third annual Summit Food and Wine Festival. Held at the Grand Summit Hotel, the weekend will feature tastings; culinary classes; wine, beer, and cheese discussions; and appearances by celebrated chefs including Douglas Rodriguez, James Laird, and Alex Garcia. The event kicks off with the “Gala Tasting” featuring chefs’ signature dishes and continues with the Summit Gala Dinner, Caja China Cookout Competition, and the Sommalier Summit Competition Lunch, to name just a few of the tantalizing events. Tickets can be purchased at The Wine List of Summit, by calling 908.277.6565, or online at summitfoodandwine.com.

Those heading down the shore should stop by Asbury Park for their Oyster Festival, which also runs through the weekend. From September 9-11 Lake Avenue will be alive with restaurant tastings, non-stop music, children’s rides and amusements, crafters and vendors, and, of course, oysters. A mere $3 gets you a weekend-long pass, and a portion of the proceeds benefit The Boys and Girls Clubs of Monmouth County. For more information, visit asburyparkchamber.com/festivals.asp.

Celebrate the flavors of the new season at the Mount Holly Library’s A Taste of Autumn, which will be held on September 10 starting at 5 p.m. Local chefs will prepare dishes using favorite fall ingredients, such as pumpkins and apples. The dishes will be paired with wine and beer provided by Red, White, and Brew and O.R.N. Jazz will entertain the crowd with live music. Tickets are $40 and proceeds benefit the library’s mission to promote the study of New Jersey’s history, arts, and humanities. For more information, call 609.267.7111 or e-mail mtholly@bcls.nj.us.

Finally, it’s garlic season, and Ebb & Flow Organic Farm and Taste of Dawn are celebrating with a Garlic and Art Festival on September 10. Pick up some seasonal produce, shop the handcrafted fine art jewelry on sale, and enjoy store-wide sales, tastings, giveaways, and more. The event will be held at Taste of Dawn, 192 Main Street in Butler.

Bon appetit!
