Your Dog is Worth it Too

August 19, 2011

By Brianne Harrison Moore

Cosmetics giant L’Oreal has gained a lot of fans by telling women that they’re worth it, and every year, at their Cranbury location, they take a day to remember and honor our loyal four-legged companions during their annual “Because Your Dog is Worth it Too” day. The 2011 Because Your Dog is Worth it Too event will take place this Saturday, August 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More than 5,000 dogs and their human companions are expected, and there are events planned throughout the day to keep everyone busy and happy. Enter your pet in breed races, a costume contest, the dog high jump contest, hay maze and dock diving competitions, or the 7th Annual NJ State Puppy Limbo Championship. Bring dirty dogs to the dog wash and dog grooming areas and catch a performance by Atka the Amazing Eskie. Hot dogs can cool off at the misting tents and pools while their owners get books signed by Jen Foster and Alison Pace. Make your memories of the day last with a photo session with Andrew Darlow or Zap Photography.

Human entertainment will be provided by Magic 98.3. There will also be kids’ games, face painting, food courts, raffles, and more than 75 dog rescues on hand with some of the pups who need good homes.

One hundred percent of the registration fees; food, drink, and T-shirt sales; and raffle basket entries will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, in honor of two L’Oreal employees who passed away due to breast cancer. Admission is $10 at the gate, and the event will be held at the L’Oreal facility at 35 Broadway Rd. (off Route 130) in Cranbury. For more information, visit yourdogisworthittoo.com.
