Puppy Prom Goes Pink

April 29, 2011

By Brianne Harrison Moore

What’s sweeter than a bunch of dogs dressed to the nines and enjoying a puppy prom? Dressed-up dogs that are also helping to raise money for cancer research. Morris Animal Inn’s annual Puppy Prom is going pink this year to raise awareness and donations for breast cancer.

“Pooches in Pink” will be held at the Inn at 120 Sand Spring Rd. in Morristown on May 4. Pink ties, tutus, and tiaras are encouraged but not required.

Attendees can sponsor or donate items for care packages for local cancer patients while enjoying Flamingo Fling dancing and music, prom photos, the Fuschia Frisbee Fetch, pooch punch and pastries, and a canine fun run for a cure. As always, there will be a “Trip to the Shore” afterpary in the indoor Aqua Center.

Reservations for the prom are $59 (for the full day) and must be made in advance by calling 973.539.0377 ext. 5. A portion of all reservations will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure of North Jersey.

Not to be forgotten—next week is National Be Kind to Animals Week, and in honor of that, The Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals is kicking off “Be Kind & Sparkle & Shine” to spread the word about their Annual Black Tails Gala, which will be held August 6.

Starting May 1, anyone who purchases a ticket to the gala will be entered in a drawing to win a doggie couture package that includes an original design by Classy Doggie Designs and accessories from Paws & Pose. The gala will feature live music, cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, live and silent auctions, and more. Tickets are $175 each (dogs are free) and can be purchased by visiting purrnpoochfoundation.org.
