As many of you probably know, February is National Heart Health Month, and it’s right around the corner. In honor of the month of love and heart-health awareness, Purr’n Pooch Pet Resort of Tinton Falls and Wall is participating in the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women Campaign” by hosting events on Friday, February 4th and Saturday, February 5 that celebrate the heart health benefits of pet ownership and raise funds to fight heart disease in women.

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on February 4, both Purr’n Pooch locations invite their daycare clients to dress in red in honor of “National Wear Red Day”. Dogs will also receive red bandannas or bows as well as natural dog biscuits, and they’ll spend their day enjoying heart-healthy games of “Bob for Bones” and the “Great Bubble Chase.” Purr’n Pooch will also make a donation to the American Heart Association.

The following day is “Go Red for Women at Doga Day.” The public is invited to a one-hour Doga (dog yoga) class taught by professional instructor Lee Summers, starting at 10 a.m.. The class will be followed by pet massage therapy tips and pointers from certified therapist Koren Spadavecchia; information on the Canine Good Citizenship program, which offers pet therapy training and certification; a heart-healthy coffee tasting and presentation by Rook Coffee Roasters of Oakhurst; and natural pet treat alternatives courtesy of Paws & Pose Pet Boutique of Pier Village in Long Branch. The $10 admission fee will be donated to the American Heart Association.

The events will be hosted at the two Purr’n Pooch locations at 86 W. Gilbert St. in Tinton Falls and 2424 New Jersey 35 in Wall Township. For more information, visit purrnpooch.com.
