Winter Wine Weekend

January 11, 2011

By Brianne Harrison Moore

Shake off the winter torpor, call up some friends, and support some lovely local wineries at the Delaware River Valley Winter Wine Trail Weekend, which runs from this Friday, January 14 through Monday the 17. Unionville Vineyards and Old York Cellars in Ringoes, Terhune Orchards in Princeton (yes, they make wine now!), and Hopewell Valley Vineyards in Pennington will throw open their doors for this inaugural event.

Each winery will feature tastings, tours, and special offers of 10% off on all wine purchases. Guests who visit every winery will receive a special gift (while supplies last). Tastings are $5-10 depending on the winery.

In addition to the wine tasting, Unionville will host a food tasting of Italian specialties from Lawrence Township’s Vitella & Sons. If you overindulge and want to work off some calories, join the East Coast Wine Meets West Coast Swing class with Cliff Marino and Jennifer Tanner on Saturday and Sunday in the 1858 Mansion. If you can’t make this weekend’s dance class, don’t worry—classes covering Salsa, Bachatta, Tango, Hustle, and Jitterbug will be held throughout the month of January. Dance classes require reservations; for more information, visit unionvillevineyards.com.
