Brews and Birdies

August 10, 2010

By Brianne Harrison

‘Tis the season to be celebrating food, so it’s hardly surprising to see Crystal Springs Resort’s 2nd Annual New Jersey Beer and Food Festival on the calendar for this weekend. The three-day adults-only getaway will feature plenty of delicious food and beers from all over the country (including offerings from several breweries right here in the Garden State).

Things get started on Friday evening with a four-course gourmet dinner paired with Sam Adams beer. At 10 a.m. Saturday the Brews & Birdies golf tournament begins. Participants can sample different varieties of beer at various locations on the course. Winners will receive Callaway Hybrid Clubs and a complimentary Wild Turkey foursome.

A Beer Seminar and tasting in the Chef’s Garden from 1 to 3 p.m. allows participants to learn more about their favorite brews before the beer festival begins at 3:30. The festival will feature unlimited brews, delicious food, and live entertainment.

The Festival wraps up on Sunday, when overnight guests can play Wild Turkey for just $100 and enjoy craft beer samples at designated holes and at the Halfway House.

All Festival events are 21 and over. Tickets to events can be purchased online or by calling 973.827.5996 ext. 3. Those interested in staying through the weekend can enjoy special rates starting at $279 for a room at Grand Cascades Lodge and $199 for a room at the nearby Minerals Resort and Spa. To reserve a room, call 973.827.5996 ext. 2 and mention “beer festival”. For more information, visit crystalgolfresort.com.
