Doggy Day Camp

July 9, 2010

By Brianne Harrison

At this time of year, many parents are waving their kids off to summer camp in the hopes they’ll spend their days being productive, being entertained, and making new friends. But few pet parents make similar arrangements for furry members of the family, which is a shame, because dogs, like people, are social animals who like to spend their days playing, running around, and making friends too.

The Morris Animal Inn has stepped up to offer dogs an opportunity to do all of that by offering weeklong sessions of doggy day camp at their 12-acre facility in Morristown. Sessions run through August and include swim sessions in the indoor pool, group play, themed games, contests and activities, sports, and an air-conditioned place to relax in. Campers even get special treats—energy pup-sicles, campfire confections, and frozen fruit snow cones.

This summer, weeklong themes include Olympics Camp (July 26-29), Rodeo Camp (July 12-15 and August 9-12), Circus Camp (July 19-22), and Hawaiian Luau Camp (August 2-5). Tuition is $239; campers who wish to stay overnight (a great choice if you’re taking the two-legged family on vacation) pay extra.
