Burt’s Bees sure has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a purveyor of homemade lip balms. Although best known for its beeswax and honey-based products, the company has branched out into skincare, haircare, baby products and, most recently, toothpaste.

Available with or without fluoride, in flavors for both adults and kids, Burt’s Bees Natural Toothpaste features cranberry extract, which is said to block bacteria and help prevent the formation of plaque. I recently tried one of the mint flavor whitening pastes. Although the flavor took a little getting used to for someone who had been accustomed to the sweeter flavor of Crest, I will say this toothpaste was quite refreshing, and my teeth did seem a bit brighter after I’d been using it for a few days.

Burt’s Bees Natural Toothpaste is available in Muticare, Whitening, and Kids’ formulas (the latter comes in kid-friendly berry and citrus flavors). You can buy it online at or grab some at Target, Rite Aid, Whole Foods, or most major grocery store chains.
