Shop for a Cause

April 27, 2010

By Brianne Harrison

How does shopping for a good cause sound? Yes, that’s right—for one day, Lord & Taylor in Westfield will help local charities raise money during their “Shop Smart, Do Good! A Fundraising Day” (formerly known as the Benefit Bash).

Here’s how it works: customers may purchase five-dollar tickets to the event from participating organizations, at lordandtaylor.com/dogood, or at the store on May 4, the day of the event. Participating organizations keep all proceeds from ticket sales, and there’s no limit on the number of tickets any single organization can sell. Each ticket includes a 20% off coupon that can be used on one item as well as a 15% savings pass for the day that’s good on almost anything in the store, including cosmetics and fragrances. If you use your Lord & Taylor card, you’ll receive an additional 10% off your purchase, and if you open a new card, you’ll get 15% off.

There will be several special events throughout the day, including a mini fashion show featuring spring fashions from Jones New York, an appearance by Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member Teresa Guidice, author appearances and signings, a special performance of the Elmojool Quartet, complimentary makeovers at the cosmetic counters, and demonstrations by David Martone of Classic Thyme Cooking School and David Williams of Williams Nursery. You can also enter to win the Ultimate Day Bag from Radley London (a $125 value) or a children’s wardrobe (a $250 value).

Participating organizations include: Boys and Girls Clubs of Union County, Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption, Center for Hope Hospice, Children’s Specialized Hospital, Good News Home for Women, Greater Plainfield Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes, Mobile Meals of Westfield, Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Friends of Linden Animal Shelter, and many more.

Shop Smart, Do Good will take place Tuesday, May 4 at Lord & Taylor, 609 North Ave., Westfield. To learn more or purchase tickets, visit lordandtaylor.com/dogoodwestfield.
