Cooking for Kids

April 13, 2010

By Brianne Harrison

Who doesn’t love great food served up for a good cause? And what’s a better cause than helping sick kids get better?

On April 26, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital will host its third annual Cooking for Kids: Gourmet Fare from Everywhere, and local celebs are turning out in full force for the evening. Lidia Bastianich, famed TV chef, restaurateur, and bestselling author will be the guest of honor and welcome other celebrity chefs, including Montclair’s Michael Carrino of Restaurant Passioné, Scott Cutaneo of Restaurant Equus and the Claremont Tavern in Bernardsville (and Official Chef to the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games), Ryan DePersio of Fascino in Montclair and Bar Cara in Bloomfield, John Benjamin of Restaurant Latour at Crystal Springs in Hamburg, and staff members from Carlo’s Bakery, featured in TLC’s Cake Boss. These and more than 50 other chefs from the metropolitan area will offer samplings of their signature dishes.

You’ll also have the chance to rub shoulders with Dina Manzo from Real Housewives of New Jersey, former Giants quarterback Phil Simms, former NBA star Albert King, actor and singer Gianni Russo, and media personalities Lori Stokes and Steve Adubato.

Cooking for Kids will raise funds for pediatric programs and services at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Paterson. The evening kicks off with a VIP reception at 6 p.m., followed by general admission at 6:30. The party will be held at the Venetian, 546 River Dr. in Garfield. Tickets are $175 for general admission and $250 for the VIP reception and full tasting.
