Hey, Honey!

April 9, 2010

By Brianne Harrison

Honey is amazing stuff. It tastes delicious, has medicinal uses (historically, it’s been used as an ointment for rashes and burns and to help soothe sore throats), and in many cultures it has major religious and cultural significance.

Unsurprisingly, honey has found its way into cosmetics and beauty products, most notably in the Burt’s Bees line. Manuka Honey, which is said to help treat such wide-ranging conditions as sores, stomach ulcers, and superbugs like MRSA, recently came to my rescue in the form of a face mask by Symren.

An ill-advised attempt at switching face washes had left me with irritated, red skin peppered with dry patches no amount of moisturizer could soothe. Realizing more drastic action was needed, I slathered on some of Symren’s Intense Hydration Face Mask, which has helped me (or, rather, my face) get through two tough winters. The mask, which is made with New Zealand’s Active Manuka Honey and green tea, helps hydrate your skin without leaving it greasy, zaps dry spots, and tones and tightens. By the next morning, my skin felt better than ever.

Symren carries a full line of products, including a healing cream, green tea body gel, moisturizing gel, and body cream. If you’re looking to pamper yourself, splash out on their Green Tea Body Care Kit, which includes oil-free moisturizing gel, green tea body gel, green tea body cream, and Sencha tea from the Shizuoka region of Japan, so you can start to feel as good on the inside as you do on the outside!
