Artistic Expressions

March 30, 2010

By Brianne Harrison

As some of you may have noticed, we’re big animal lovers here, so any time an event comes up that supports animals in need, we’re there or, at the very least, going to support it in any way we can.

In early April (April 10th, to be exact) Lilo’s Promise is hosting the Artistic Expressions Art Auction Benefit at the Collingswood Community Center in Collingswood. The evening will feature a wine tasting; hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants such as Mom’s Kitchen, Casona, and Elements Café; live music by acoustic guitarist Jamison Grabbe; and an auction of artwork by dozens of artists, both renowned and unknown.

Proceeds from the evening benefit Lilo’s Promise, a volunteer-run no-kill rescue that provides homes for companion animals. The animals live in volunteers’ homes and are trained before being adopted out, making them ideal for anyone who doesn’t really have the time or energy for an untrained pet or a puppy. The rescue is hoping to put some of the money raised from the auction towards purchasing a farm where the dogs can live, play, and train before they are adopted.

So, if you have any interest in art, good food, or animals, you may want to check this out. You might find yourself happily toting home a fabulous new painting, knowing you did some good when buying it.

Artistic Expressions begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Collingswood Community Center. For more information or to request tickets, visit lilospromise.com.
